A little project we have been working on for a while now has been outfitting each of the dogs with a tag and collar of their own.
It’s amazing how such a simple project for one dog becomes a
mountain of a project for twenty-something.
Smiles and enthusiastic wags abound!

When the thunder booms and Prairie feels sure that the world is ending,
his brother and sisters (and mom) snuggle in close around him…
and within a moment or two the fear melts away
and he falls fast asleep.

They might not drink from a bottle or fit in the laundry basket anymore,
but these five softies will always be my babies.
Happy 8th Birthday sweet puppies!

A view from the window

A window looks out onto a sunny morning.

Birds splash joyfully in their bath, lizards sun themselves on the warm cement walk, and a large gray ground squirrel stands sentry in the flower garden.

All the while the dogs watch with perked up ears and eager eyes, content to share their yard for a time each day with nature and all of her beautiful inhabitants… a feast for the eyes and for the soul.

A little bit of nostalgia

IMG_0081This squeezes my heart a little… or actually, rather a lot.

It’s hard to tell size in photographs, but to give you a better idea,
these sweet little guys are in an egg box.
Normally an egg box holds a few cartons of eggs, but in this case it held:
A heating pad, a wool vest, and five chubby 10 day old puppies.
Their ears have just come down at this point,
but their eyes remain tightly closed.

It was their birthday yesterday, they turned Seven!
Sometimes I wonder what their reaction would be,
if I offered them a warm bottle now….
