A beautiful family of ground squirrels have tunnelled up into the backyard.
This is probably not the smartest decision on their part,
but they have craftily located their front door directly under the fence,
which makes any serious inspections (or excavating) difficult.

All of the dogs take turns keeping vigil at the mouth of the tunnel;
some like to bark down the occasional question,
others like to insert their paw as far as they can and feel around.
But regardless of who is on duty, if any movement is detected down below
a full alarm is happily sounded.

Osita takes her job on the squirrel patrol very seriously.
