Christmas really doesn’t like to go out for that one last visit to the yard before bed. She is a firm believer that peeing in the kitchen at midnight is okay, and has a variety of tricks that she uses in great hopes of not having to go outside for those dreaded five minutes before bed.
One of my favorites is when she lays very still on the sofa, with her eyes pinched closed ever so tightly, pretending to be fast asleep. It always almost fools me. However, being a rather curious little creature, and completely deaf, she eventually cracks open one eye to check and see if her trick has worked.
I crouch down in front of her and wait (it only ever takes about 5 seconds) and when she takes a quick peek, her little eye meets mine with surprise, and we both laugh about what a good joke it was.
Then she goes on her merry little way, out for a quick lap around the backyard, nothing lost for trying, and probably making a mental note that she has to wait 10 seconds before peeking tomorrow night.
♥
Awwww she is laughing 🙂 Have a super weekend xx00xx

I was just over at your place checking out all your paper mache work… you are incredible! I want to visit your house on Halloween this year!!
Big hugs for You, Nikita & Bella, have a great sunday XO
Christmas for sure is adorable! Oh gosh, I have paper mache coming out of my ears now (just kidding), but I do have a lot of projects going on. I do have 2 of the five pumpkins done already, and as you can see working on a Mummy! (isn’t the mummy so cute?) I am going to “wrap” him for the final step and use push pins for eyes peeking out of the wrap. I hope it turns out! Thanks for stopping by and enjoying my posts!
Oh, harharhahaha!!!! LOVE these pics…what a wily girl. She is just gorgeous …
Thank you so much! I am glad we were able to share a smile 🙂

She has a good sense of humour alright! And puppy laughter is so contagious too! Lots of hugs for you all xoxo
BOL funny. Who says dogs are dumb? Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
I agree! I think whoever came up with that must not have ever spent a real moment with a dog in their lives! Have a great Sunday Molly!
Love this! What a cute and clever girl she is.
Thank you Susan! She really is a clever one, and I have endless amounts of laughs watching all these little games she comes up with. Big hugs for you and Wrigs!
LOL, good one Christmas. That face would be like waking up to the best present every single day Kathryn ❤ <3, Sweetness to the max. I love love love that Christmas gets to 'fake snooze' on the sofa too, mi casa o su casa! You take the best photo's that really show the heart of a dog. Cheers my dear.
Thank you so much Kelly! That is a beautiful way to describe how this sweet little girl makes us all feel around here, every moment with her really is the best present ever 🙂
What a cutie pie 🙂 they never want that last pee outside..have to round my boys up too but they are not as clever at the playing possum as Christmas is hehehe 🙂 Big hugs Fozziemum xx
Playing possum, what a perfect way to describe it!! Wishing you a great weekend Fozziemum, big hugs for you all too 🙂
And big hugs back to you too 🙂
Awww! Love that second photo! She looks a real character and loads of fun 🙂 Wolfie hugs to her!
Thanks for the Wolfie hugs, i’ll be sure to pass them on! 🙂 Have a great sunday!
She reminds me of Ringo who thought if she had her face buried into the back of the sofa or back seat of the car we couldn’t see her. Who said dogs were dumb animals—-BAAAA.
They really are so smart and so creative aren’t they! Ringo was amazing, I have so many great memories of her… Ringo and her tennis ball 🙂
Eyes wide shut! – such a trickster:)
So true Ruby! Thanks for coming by to say hello, we wish you a great (and adventurous) sunday!
Love this post. I remember that I had a basset hound years ago and this was our biggest debate. I referred to her state as taking a nap before bed, but Aggie always told me no, that she was already down for the night, go outside to the yard without me! Sometimes she was serious enough to growl. What a good Christmas you have!
Hi Anna, isn’t it funny how some of our pups are just so stubborn about that last trip out at night. Thanks for sharing your memory about Aggie, sounds like she was a special girl 🙂
Had me fooled.
She’s fooled me plenty of times too, so we are in good company together! Have a great weekend Diane 🙂
If she could just hold out & not peek, she’d be all set.
One of the best posts I’ve seen in a while :)!
Aww, thank you for that!
Christmas is one cute and clever girl! Reminds of our blindmostly deaf Brook who hears the crate doors being closed and collapses on the floor, losing all muscle tone! Silly girl likes her crate, it has now become a bit of a game so she can be carried to her crae. Special needs dogs have such great personalities!
Oh I just love that too… the impossible to budge lump on the floor tactic! I have a few who employ that one quite well 🙂 I agree completely, special needs dogs are just overflowing with amazing personality.
Such a great face! And a smart girl! We have a couple that believe they are exempt from the last potty break of the day as well, so I feel your pain!
I find that if I go running outside too and pretend like I am having a great old time, everyone who figured they didn’t want to go out before, is suddenly totally up for it. Just doesn’t work the same with my little Christmas girl 🙂
And you wouldn’t have it any other way, would you?
Haha, ya…. you totally got me 🙂
Just love the laugh
Thank you! She has a sweet little laugh doesn’t she?!
Hahahahaha, how sweet. Love your dogs.
Thank you so much Bente! 🙂
I love this. It reminds me of the way I sometimes share a joke with my dog Arrow … when she gets too far ahead of me on a walk I’ll hide behind a tree. She turns around and comes dashing back, finds me immediately with a big grin on her face, and we both laugh. Dogs are pranksters!
Awww, smiling just visualizing it! Dogs really are great pranksters, and I just love their style of humor too 🙂
That is very sweet how you share a laugh together! Can she really hate going OUT so much though?
I am not sure why she dislikes it soooo much, but yes, according to Christmas going out before bed is the worst thing imaginable. I wonder if maybe it’s similar to that feeling us responsible humans get before bed when all we want to do is sleep, but we know that we still have to brush our teeth first?! 🙂
hehehe, mummy says I sleep with one eye open as I always know what’s going on around me (especially if there’s food bol)
I bet you’re so cute snoozing with one eye cracked open Misaki! It’s very important to always keep an eye on the food!! XO
this is the cutest thing i have ever read!!! she is so smart!!!
aww, how cute!
I don’t know how you manage to do it, but these photos crack me up! They are a hilarious bunch.<3
