What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs.
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad day light,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at beauty’s glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can,
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

Mollie and Alfie
Thanks Mollie! Sending lots of happy weekend wishes for you all π xoxox
I am emotional ANYWAY at the moment… this photo- and poem made me think of a place and time when I learned this poem with my mother:
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree
A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast
A tree who in summer wears a nest of robins in her hair
…and now memory fails..I may have it mixed up or wrong in parts, but you photo and post made my day. π
“A tree who in summer wears a nest of robins in her hair” … I love that! Thank you so much for sharing a beautiful memory and a beautiful poem with me.
Have a great weekend
beautiful
Thank you!
A beautiful affirmation of those moments that bring meaning to our lives. Thank you.
Thank you for coming by! I hope the sun is shining for you this weekend, have a good one π
This photo and poem seems to have awaken strong emotion in everyone today. It reminds me of the love my youngest child has for animals and how like her father she knows how to be still and see the world around her. It also reminds me of a poem she and I wrote together many years ago to get past a little tiff we were having while doing dishes. π
That poem, I still think about it and smile! Thank you for your sweet message xoxo
I forgot to mention what a beautiful photo this is and how the poem deeply touched me as well. π
Keep a good watch, dear boy.
He is such a good guardian, and is always the one watching over everything & everyone… same guy from my banner photo actually π
I love how this photograph silhouettes the dog so beautifully! Nicely done!
Thank you!
Beautiful post (photo and poem alike), it’s one that I really needed to read today.
I am glad you enjoyed! Have a great weekend… drink lots of spinach smoothies for me too π
…. I actually have a big beautiful bunch of organic Swiss chard and a pineapple on my counter right now, and I keep thinking to myself “Should I? Could I?” Haha
Give it a try, I’ve not made any smoothies with pineapple but it’s my understanding they are really yummy!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful photo! And, the poem is a wonderful reminder to slow down and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.
Thank you! It’s one of my favorites, and I am glad that you enjoyed it too. You and Wrigs always see so many beautiful things along your trails, and I just love that you always stop and enjoy it, and then share it with us too! Have a great weekend!
Amazing, beautiful and stunning.
Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
Thank you so much Molly! Wishing you a happy weekend π
Lovely close of day feeling in this beautiful photo π I often stand and stare and get lost in my surroundings…it brings about great inner peace…unfortunately those who spot you and do not understand what you’re doing are prone to ridicule…but that is their loss and does not affect the deep relaxation such an activity invokes π
Lol, I have been on the receiving end of that same ridicule too! It’s so very worth it though, each of those beautiful little moments is such a gift, it would be a shame to let them pass by. Have a great weekend, sending hugs for all the wolves!
That is a beautiful picture! Thanks for sharing the poem too.
Thank you! Wishing you all a great weekend π
Beautiful photo and the poem goes so perfectly. Beautifully done:-)
Thank you so much! π
Thanks for posting this Kathryn, it’s a perfect accompaniment to your fab photo. Emerson wrote: Adopt the pace of nature, her secret is patience. If only we took the time to breath it all in.
Thank you Boomdee! I really like that quote too, it’s just so true π
What a beautiful poem and reminder to take time out, each day, to appreciate all the glory in this world of ours. That photograph is stunning
It’s one of my favorites, and I am glad that you enjoyed it too! Have a great weekend π
Wonderfully refreshing image and poem, thanks.
Could you tell me how you got your WordPress site to let you show the Animal Rescue Site’s logo? Each time I try to add text or image widgets, WordPress won’t let me.
Help. Any and all tips appreciated.
Thank you!
Now about the animal rescue site logo/link. It takes a few steps, and they are going to sound way more complicated then they really are… but once you get it, it works great.
I made a quick account at photobucket.com and then saved that image into the account (just right click on the image and copy the ‘image address’ and then back at photobucket you click ‘upload’, then choose ‘from web’ and then paste that image address in.
Once the image is saved click view album, and they give you different codes for posting on blogs ect.
So then using the image widget on wordpress I added the correct code from the photobucket site, and then added the animal rescue site web address as the URL to visit when the photo is clicked so that people can go donate all those wonderful free bowls of dog food!
I hope that helps, if you get stuck along the way please message me back and ill try to send better instructions!
Gosh, I had Internet issues and missed this comment. I will copy and try this! Thanks a dozen doggy kisses.
Lovely photo!!!!
Thank you!
That picture is terrific the colors are beautiful. Loved the poem too. Hugs and nose kisses
Can’t believe I’ve missed all these beautiful posts!! Wondrous little souls…
