This little guy is Pepper, and he became a part of our family a few years ago. We found him quite far out in the countryside after he had been hit by a car. He had a fractured hip and was unable to move, and little Osita (who has been on the blog before) was by his side… his super faithful companion. So after a day at the Vet they both came home to be a part of our family. Pepper recovered slowly, he didn’t move an inch out of his bed for the first week, except for twice a day when I carried him out to the yard, and Osita lay next to him protectively the whole time.
They are both doing great now, so happy and healthy, very playful! Where Osita is brave and outgoing, Pepper is shy and cautious… and he really hasn’t allowed me to take many photos (or to cut his nails!) so I felt rather lucky when he let me snap this one early in the morning not too long ago.

Love that! Dogs that can be hard to win over are often my favorites – earning their trust is truly a gift.
