This is Pal, he is Peaches look-a-like twin brother from another planet! He was actually given to me by a little boy whose family had heard that Peaches was missing on the radio, this was about 6 years ago now…. I am sure you remember when my heart was hurting over that. The boy brought him to me so carefully, leading him by an old frayed electrical cord that was knotted around his neck, and when I squatted down to say hello the little boy whispered in my ear “his name is Peaches”. My heart broke right there, and we ended up taking this old guy into our home too. Meanwhile the search for the real Peaches continued… and he was indeed found 6 months later! Best buddies doesn’t even begin to sum it up! Happy endings.
And you are right, gentle is not a word that comes to mind when we are talking about Peaches, although he has his tender moments, rambunctious is the more perfect description!
Hi Pal. From one old dog to another, I’m with you, there is nothing better than laying in the grass with the sun on your face. Kinda makes the old battle scars seem worthwhile.
Ahhhh, it all makes sense now! I remember Pal, so nice to see his picture… your story makes me weepy, the electrical cord, the whispering boy. Everything matters.
I don’t think I’ll ever really get over the story of Peaches ( & Pal….) and how insanely serendipitous that they look alike. I mean, where would Pal be if Peaches hadn’t disappeared?
Us old ones can still look good in the right light and with lots of luv : )
This isn’t Peaches, right? I seem to remember he was more rambunctious than gentle!
